DSCN3367 Apologies for the long silence. I’ve been working hard on the first draft of my sequel to I, Morgana while on my 3-month writing residency in beautiful Barnstaple in Devon – surrounded by history, including this wonderful sign found in nearby Bideford. It’s been an incredibly productive time, and I have come home having achieved my target of a completed mss – but also with a smashed shoulder! I rounded a corner (on the pavement) and got wiped out by a guy on a bike towing behind him a large closed cart with a dog in it. There are always formidable old ladies riding bikes in Midsomer Murders, but this was an older guy who had no business riding on the pavement at all. Very painful, but British National Health looked after me really well.  I travelled home with my arm in a sling and am now waiting to see the orthopaedist to hear what happens next. DSCN3804DSCN3811But I loved my time in Devon, working in the morning (with a daily target of 2,000 words) and then long walks along the river in the afternoon. That was my dreaming time: I made notes, admired the scenery, and picked blackberries while pretending I was a character in an Enid Blyton novel! DSCN3418
