Last year I was really busy with updating and rewriting my Shalott trilogy for teenagers, and then getting them published – and I’m so pleased that they are now out and available once more to introduce a new generation of teenagers to the magic and mystery (and heartbreak) of Camelot and the court of King Arthur, and also to Tennyson’s wonderful poem, The Lady of Shalott. 
But I also kept busy researching and writing a new book, this time a timeslip novel for Middle Grade readers, titled Harry’s Greatcoat. My grandson Max and I had a wonderful time exploring various military sites in Sydney, most notably at Middle Harbour, George’s Head and George’s Heights, and my thanks also to Matt from NPWS who took me down the many tunnels crisscrossing underneath those sites, and who also explained what was going on up above. The sites are mostly in ruins now, so it needed a lot of imagination and the help of numerous books and old maps to be able to visualise and write about Middle Harbour in Sydney during WW2, and what happened in May 1942. I’ll be talking about Harry’s Greatcoat (working title) in more detail as time goes by. (Pictured: one of many photographs I used to help me visualise armaments and personnel during WW2) 
During the holidays I’ve enjoyed spending time with my grandchildren – I’ve even seen Spiderman twice! Great movie! And we’re making the most of a finally warm summer to visit the beach and go snorkeling. Happy 2022 to you all; hope you have a healthy and productive year full of friendship and fun.
