The mystical Glastonbury and Glastonbury Tor have long been an inspiration for authors. This ancient site was supposedly the home of Gwyn app Nudd, Lord of the Underworld; the site of the ancient Isle of Avalon of Arthurian legend; the early Christian site visited by Joseph of Arimathea after the crucifixion of Christ and, more recently, the focus of New Age philosophy and magic. I’m so grateful to my friend Serene Conneeley for sending me a range of lovely photographs of Book 1 of my newly revised and re-released Shalott trilogy, a reworking of Arthurian legend and the Tennyson poem, The Lady of Shalott, which I’m sharing with you here, along with a couple of photographs of Serene’s books: the wonderful and insightful Seven Sacred Sites (of which Glastonbury Tor is just one) and her six-book and page-turning family saga for teenagers (and adults!) beginning with Into the Mists and finishing with Into the Air, all set in Glastonbury.
