My thanks to the teachers and students of Beecroft Primary School for making me so welcome at my talks to Years 5 and 6 about writing historical fiction with particular reference to my novel, Ghost Boy. The students were great: so attentive and they threw up some really interesting questions about writing and about my book at the end of the sessions. It’s always heart-warming when you have several hundred students telling you how much they love the story, and I just wish I could have signed ALL their books instead of just a few!  Special thanks to the very talented Selina for her wonderful drawing of the cover of Ghost Boy, pictured here. It was a lovely day – and I hope they’ll all enjoy their follow-up visit to the Quarantine Station in Manly for the special ‘Ghost Boy’ tour.  Finally: for history buffs: Professor Carole Cusack will speak about the Black Death, the Hundred Years War and Popular Revolt in the ‘calamitous fourteenth century’ at the Plantagenet History Society tomorrow (Saturday 17th) at Hornsby Library at 2 pm – all welcome.
