Sage for Sanctuary & Thyme For Trust – the Janna Series, by Felicity Pulman

It’s 12th century England and a time of civil unrest. Janna’s mother is murdered by a corrupt nobleman and she is forced to flee her village. Using her considerable survival skills and knowledge of herbs, healing and human nature, Janna sets out on a quest to find her unknown father and avenge her mother’s murder.

Sage for Sanctuary and Thyme for Trust, the two final books in this series, see Janna risk her life for those she loves and what she believes in.

This is an engaging series that rolls along at a cracking pace. The characters are vivid and interesting and the background setting of medieval England is both colourful and accurately conveyed.

You can read these books as stand-alones, but it would be best to read the other books in the series first.
