After France (see previous blog) we journeyed to England and I spent some time in London to do some more research, including a tour of Parliament House, before I took up my writer’s residency in beautiful Barnstaple in Devon. Being summer, there were beautiful baskets of flowers hanging everywhere – and luscious summer fruits for purchase in the Panniers’ Market
, as well as the blackberries that lined the river path where I walked every day searching for inspiration!
A side trip to Glastonbury took me to the Chalice Well Gardens and the White Spring
. I also climbed Glastonbury Tor
and walked down Wearyall Hill and past the vandalised remains of the Glastonbury Thorn – which are still very much revered as witnessed by all the offerings attached to it. More pix next week – watch this space!
